About This Opportunity
Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Dementia Respite Assistant to join our Gold Coast Service Centre on a permanent full-time basis.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys supporting both clients and team members in a hands-on care environment. Working across centre-based and community settings, you will act as a role model to Dementia Respite Assistants and support workers, assisting with day-to-day care delivery while helping maintain high-quality, person-centred services.
You will work closely with the Community Services Manager and broader multidisciplinary team to support older Australians and people living with dementia to remain engaged, supported, and connected within their community.
Salary: $43.50 – $46.50 per hour + 12% superannuation + salary packaging.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and guide Dementia Respite Assistants and support workers.
- Assist with buddying and orientation of new staff members.
- Deliver person-centred care across respite and community settings.
- Support clients with personal care, mobility, meals, and activities.
- Promote independence, dignity, and meaningful engagement.
- Assist with centre activities, outings, and event coordination.
- Complete documentation and progress notes using VisualCare systems.
- Escalate client concerns and workplace risks appropriately.
- Support a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team.

About You
- Must have full Australian working rights with no restrictions.
- Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, Disability, or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 months’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience supporting older people and people living with dementia.
- Strong understanding of person-centred and community-based care.
- Ability to mentor and support other care staff positively.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving capability.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Current Driver’s Licence and reliable insured vehicle.
- National Police Check and smartphone for work-related purposes.
