Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is a leading not-for-profit supporting older people to live well at home. We’re looking for compassionate and experienced Dementia Respite Assistants to join our team at our Gordon Park Service Centre.

About the Role
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll support clients in a centre-based respite setting—building genuine connections, encouraging participation, and helping create meaningful, enjoyable days. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide centre-based respite support to older people and those living with dementia.
  • Build respectful, trusting relationships with clients and their families.
  • Support participation in meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and independence.
  • Assist with personal care and daily living tasks as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to deliver a safe and engaging environment.

About You

  • A genuine passion for person-centred care
  • Experience supporting older people or individuals living with dementia.
  • Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • Availability across weekdays, weekends, and varied shifts.

Availability Requirements

  • Candidates MUST be flexible to work across weekdays and weekends and available for a minimum of 3–4 shifts per week
  • Weekend-only availability will not be suitable for this role.
