Senior Interior Designer

Alzheimer’s Queensland | Upper Mount Gravatt | Fixed-Term Full-Time 12 Month Contract with a potential for extension

AQ have a team of inhouse interior designers that deliver projects across all the organisation's sites. AQ Design is going through significant expansions and are seeking a skilled Interior Designer to bring creativity and expertise to a vibrant team. We currently have several various scaled projects underway which will allow you to have immediate impact and input into. The role will require you to be involved in projects from our headquarters in Upper Mt Gravatt across our various sites.

About the Opportunity
Join a close-knit in-house design team delivering projects across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba, and NSW. Working client-side, you will lead projects across the full project lifecycle — from briefing and concept development through to delivery and completion.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will take ownership of multiple projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders, architects, consultants, and contractors to deliver functional, high-quality spaces that enhance the wellbeing and lived experience of older Australians.

This is a hands-on role suited to a highly experienced designer who enjoys balancing creativity with technical delivery, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional outcomes across a variety of project types and budgets.

Based at our Upper Mount Gravatt Head Office, this is a fully onsite role with regular travel to project sites. Hybrid or remote arrangements are not available.

 

Salary: Competitive salary + 12% superannuation + salary packaging.
Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–3:00pm Friday (76-hour fortnight).

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects end-to-end, from briefing concept through to completion
  • Prepare 2D drawings, 3D models, and detailed design documentation
  • Produce construction documentation, including finishes schedules
  • Coordinate furniture, artwork, and decorative selections
  • Manage supplier relationships and oversee procurement processes
  • Lead FF&E selection, coordination, and ordering
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and logistics
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Travel to project sites as required
  • Assist with styling and preparation for project photoshoots
  • Mentoring junior designers in the studio

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design is essential
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a design studio environment with both commercial and residential experience running projects from concept to completion
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and design capability
  • Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Solid administrative and document management skills
  • Current National Police Check and Australian driver’s licence
  • Experience in aged care, healthcare, or community-based projects is highly regarded.
