A position has become available for an experienced Cook/ Kitchen Hand to join our 60 bed facility at Garden City Aged Care Services in Upper Mt Gravatt.

You will contribute to an efficient team providing quality meals, excellent presentation and prompt service for our residents. In addition, you will have the important task of maintaining high level hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas.

About This Opportunity

Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at Garden City Aged Care on a casual basis.

This role is suited to someone confident working in a fast-paced kitchen, preparing meals at scale while meeting dietary requirements specific to aged care. You will play a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality meals that support residents’ health, wellbeing, and daily routine.

Shift Times: 5:00am – 1:00pm and 11:00am – 7:00pm.
Availability: Every second weekend and flexibility to cover weekday shifts as required.

Salary: Competitive hourly rate + 12% superannuation + salary packaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook homestyle meals in line with planned menus.
  • Ensure meals meet dietary requirements including texture-modified diets.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Support meal service and ensure timely delivery to residents.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen and care teams.

About You

  • Must have full Australian working rights with no restrictions.
  • Not suitable for applicants with limited working hours or visa restrictions.
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience in aged care, healthcare, or high-volume kitchens (Desireable) 
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to prepare meals for diverse dietary requirements.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available for early morning, afternoon, and weekday shifts.
  • National Police Check and current vaccinations.
