Respite Assistant (Casual) – Arundel Respite Centre

Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) is a progressive organisation committed to supporting older Australians and their families to live with dignity, independence, and meaningful community connection.

We are seeking experienced and certified Respite Assistants to join our team at our Arundel Respite Centre on a casual basis.

This role requires availability to commit to approximately 20 hours per week. You will support aged care clients aged 65 years and above with a strong person-centred focus, ensuring each client feels respected, supported, and valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with lifestyle and engagement activities
  • Promote independence and wellbeing
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, families, and team members
  • Complete documentation as required

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support, or Individual Care (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Personal Care Assistant or Lifestyle Officer (highly regarded)
  • Experience working with aged care clients in community, respite, or residential settings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness to attend staff meetings and education sessions

Salary & Benefits

  • $47.16 per hour plus super and penalty rates
  • Salary sacrifice up to $15,900 per annum
