Junior Interior Designer – Part-time

AQ Design is seeking a Junior Interior Designer who is ready to grow within a design-led studio specialising in aged-care environments.

AQ Design is the in-house interior design team for Alzheimer’s Queensland, delivering design projects across all AQ sites. The team is responsible for the execution of new builds, refurbishments, furniture selection, and decoration, creating spaces that are functional, dignified, and person-centred.

This is a part-time role, based in Upper Mount Gravatt, ideal for a junior designer or final-year student looking to gain hands-on experience across live projects.

This role provides a mix of studio administration support and hands-on involvement in multiple design projects currently in progress. The position is varied and fast-paced, requiring strong organisational skills alongside creative and technical design capability.

Key Responsibilities & Skills of this role:

  • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day studio operations
  • Contribute to multiple interior design projects across different stages
  • Produce 2D sketch designs and 3D models, including finishes and detailing
  • Use Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software
  • Interpret and work from Working Drawings
  • Manage studio sampling, including inventory and stocktake
  • Assist with project photoshoots and styling spaces prior to shoots
  • Work independently, troubleshoot, and manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrate strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills

To be successful for this role you need to demonstrate as below:

  • Previous administration experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
  • National Police Check clearance
  • Current Australian Open Driver’s Licence
  • Full working rights in Australia (mandatory)
  • Working hours availability required - Monday, Tuesday & Friday - 8:30am – 5:00pm

Qualifications required for this role:

  • Qualification in Interior Design, or
  • Students nearing completion of their degree are encouraged to apply
