We are currently seeking experienced and qualified Dementia Respite Assistants to join our team on a casual basis at our Mount Gravatt Multi-Service Centre.

This role involves providing high-quality, person-centred care to clients living with dementia, with a strong emphasis on communication, engagement, and maintaining dignity. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and meaningful environment for clients and their families.

Key responsibilities of this role are as below:

  • Deliver personalised care and support to clients living with dementia
  • Provide respite care within a centre-based environment
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with clients and families
  • Support clients to maintain independence and meaningful engagement
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the broader care team
  • Uphold AQ’s person-centred, client-focused model of care

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the people living with dementia, in a community, respite, or residential setting
  • Certificate III in Aged Care / Individual Support / Community Care
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • A genuine commitment to understanding and meeting individual client needs
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness to attend staff meetings and ongoing education sessions

Availability required for this role are as below:

Applicants must be available to work the following core weekday shifts:

  • Monday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Thursday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Flexibility to cover additional afternoon, night, weekend, and occasional overnight shifts will be highly regarded.

Salary & Benefits on offer for this role:

  • $45.58 per hour + superannuation + penalty rates
  • Salary packaging benefits up to $15,900 per annum tax-free
    (approx. $611.55 per fortnight)
