Alzheimer’s Queensland (AQ) has proudly operated Garden City Aged Care in Upper Mt Gravatt since 2004. Our purpose-built home offers three accommodation options—single room suites with kitchenettes, a secure and home-like environment at Palm Court for residents living with dementia, and specially designed respite and palliative care cottage suites.
We are currently seeking a Casual Lifestyle officer with experience to support the delivery of our lifestyle and recreation programs on weekends.
As a Casual Lifestyle officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the wellbeing and engagement of our residents over the weekend. Your key focus will be to deliver tailored 1:1 and group activities while considering residents’ needs, dignity, safety, and preferences.
You will work collaboratively with our residents, their families, management, allied health and the care team to plan and deliver meaningful programs that support independence and promote valued social roles in line with AQ’s Standards of delivery.
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Enthusiastic about supporting residents to achieve their goals, interests, and aspirations
- Skilled in building warm, respectful relationships with residents and carers
- Organised and able to plan and deliver activities efficiently
- An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Friendly, adaptable, patient, and a proactive team player
- Able to work independently while contributing to a supportive team culture
Requirements
- Minimum Certificate III in Leisure & Lifestyle qualified Diversional Therapy, or related qualification
- Previous experience in Leisure & Lifestyle programs within aged care
- Strong understanding of dementia and person-centred engagement
- National Police Check
